The philosophical challenge of explaining why and how physical processes in the brain produce subjective, qualitative experiences.
We can explain cognitive functions in terms of brain processes ('easy problems'). But why do these processes feel like something? Why is there subjective experience - what it's like to see red, feel pain? Why aren't we unconscious zombies?
