Knowledge Argument (Mary's Room)
Does complete physical knowledge include experiential knowledge?
Overview
A thought experiment about whether physical facts exhaust all facts about consciousness.
Mary is a scientist who knows all physical facts about color vision but has lived in a black-and-white room her whole life. When she finally sees red, does she learn something new? If yes, physical facts don't capture all facts (qualia). If no, the experience seems to add nothing.
